SETUP

The Ready to Air website provides authorised users on-line access to television programmes and films for review and preview via its proprietary Preview system.

If you are experiencing issues where the player fails to display any video content you may need to follow the instructions relating to the Adobe DRM detailed here.

The Registration Process

To become a user of Preview you need to be a member of, or contributor to, a bona-fide media organisation, whose access to the system is directly related to the creation of editorial content for that organisation.

The first step is to fill out the registration form. This will then be sent to the various content owners for approval. If your application is approved you will be notified by email and given access to the system. Access to programmes is controlled directly by the individual content owners. You can contact them.

It is important to note that there may be a delay between you being given access to the system and being able to view any programming. Permission to view programming is managed individually by content owners so you may not necessarily be able to see what other users can see.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@readytoair.net

Ensuring the best viewing experience

Delivery of video content over the internet is not always perfect, and there is a trade-off between consistent image quality and convenience. By ensuring you have good bandwidth and a relatively efficient computer you will minimise most of the difficulties that can arise.

1. Your internet bandwidth and network

We recommend that you have 2Mbps of bandwidth to allow sufficient data to flow to your machine. If this happens then we are happy to speak to your IT department to offer advice on connecting.

2. Your computer

One thing we can't test for is the speed of your computer, and in particular the amount of work your computer is doing. If you have a lot of programmes running or things going on in the background (email, rss feeds) you may start to experience 'stuttering'. This might occur each time an event happens (e.g. auto email check) or all the time in the case of a low powered / overworked machine. Be kind to your computer, if it's old don't expect too much from it. You can help by closing down other programmes running on your machine while you are watching Preview.

3. The amount of 'contention' i.e. internet traffic

The internet can be a busy place. We've got a great deal of connectivity at our end but sometimes things can get congested, causing the programme to pause. Usually, it resolves itself after a little while and starts again where it left off. Try to avoid busy times (e.g. when kids get in from school, at lunch-times etc). If possible check that nobody else is using your network (particularly at home) to download huge files while you are trying to work.

Remember, we are always here to help.

Happy viewing!
